Important News for Bedrock Dreams Looking Forward

I have some important news to pass on about Bedrock Dreams looking forward. I've written and maintained this blog for over nine years now but come January 1, 2018 I will be closing shop at the 10-year mark. I think a decade of effort is enough for me. I'll be nearly 70 years of age when I finally shut this thing down next January and have other irons in the fire I want to pursue both now and post-Bedrock Dreams. So that's essentially it.

Don't be sad or upset. I'll continue to write and publish posts for the remaining nine months of this year and will also re-include the Bedrock Dreams archives for your perusal and use. In fact, I'll get the archives back on the right sidebar right after I publish this post and the news it contains.

I am totally solid in this decision, so nothing will dissuade me from it. Once January 2018 arrives I will remove the entire site from the internet and Bedrock Dreams will no longer exist except in the memories of its readers and supporters. And no, I will not be handing the reins of Bedrock Dreams to anyone else and will make no "deals" in this regard. But that lies ahead in the future so no need for the gnashing of teeth at this point.

It may seem a bit early to pass this news along to you, but I feel it's better to give advance warning so everyone can adjust and be on the same wavelength. Feel free to copy material from the archives but ONLY for your own use. I still retain the copyright for all written materials herein and if I find out someone is plagiarizing those materials or using them for nefarious purposes such as personal gain I will not go into the night gently.

That pretty much sums things up for the time being. Again, I will continue to publish new posts and answer your e-mails and comments through the remaining nine months of Bedrock Dreams' existence.

Hang tough out there!

  1. Well crud! Guess I better get busy and start reading more of these articles. Will a person be able to download the whole package in one swoop?

  4. JR, over the years I feel like I've gotten to know you fairly well. Several months ago, I figured you were near the end of this. I have to say, I will miss it, but I don't blame you at all. When it quits being fun, it's time to stop. You have come close several times, but this time I think it's the right thing to do. Time to get some time for yourself and your family. People don't realize how big of a job this is. I'm amazed you have been able to keep it up this long! You should be proud of a job well done. My hat is off to you my friend! Muskrat

  11. Congratulations, JR! I'm sure it can't have been an easy decision, but it is always smart to admit when something has run its course. Please know that you have done your fellow countrymen another service providing your hard-earned wisdom these past 10 years, and the anticipation of waiting to read your next post will certainly be missed. May retirement bring you many treasures and more time to find them!
